…an ARC of Come Tumbling Down!

Hello, lovely people and terrifying couch gremlins, and welcome to the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch, the game where the points are made up but the rules really do matter.  Starting today, and continuing for the next twelve days, I will be posting a daily giveaway to help us all celebrate the festive winter spirit.  Here are a few things you should know:

1. Every post will have its own prize, and its own rules.  This is to filter out people linked here from the “hey, free stuff!” blogs, who are less interested in our prizes than they are in the fact that they don’t cost anything.

2. Unclaimed prizes will not be redistributed, they will be returned to my office to think about what they did.

3. I cannot afford international postage.  If you are outside the US/Canada, you must state your willingness to pay postage in your entry.

4. All posts automatically mirror to Dreamwidth.  For RNG reasons, comments left on Dreamwidth do not count as entries; you must enter via the root post on my blog if you want to be eligible to win.

So here.  We.  GO!

Our first prize this year is a signed copy of the ARC of Come Tumbling Down, the fifth book in the Wayward Children series.  To enter:

1. Comment on this  post.

2. Tell me which of the Wayward worlds you would most like to visit.

3. If you are outside the US/Canada, verify your willingness to pay postage.

All winners will be selected at 12PT on December 14th.  So now, as the sages say…

…GAME ON!

All right, folks: looks like we need to have a quick refresher on how giveaways work around here.

I try to be as generous as I can with giving out prizes, because who doesn’t love to win stuff?  At the same time, I need to make these giveaways a) as low-impact as possible, since I’m running them while also doing everything else that’s involved in making sure books get written and business gets done, b) fair, and c) geared mostly toward fans/readers.  When you say “enter here for free stuff” on the open internet, you get swarmed by give-away blogs and signal boosters who don’t care what you’re giving out, only that they don’t have to pay for it.

To combat the “we just want free things, we don’t care who you are or what they are” crowd, every giveaway I run will have clear, simple rules, like “indicate whether you’re in the US or not” and “include the word ‘banana’ in your comment.”  Comments that do not follow all rules will be disqualified, and cannot win even if selected by the random number generator (RNG).  If the RNG picks one of those, I draw again.  Always.

To keep things low-impact–and this has been the case for literally over a decade, beginning with giveaways of my first few CDs–when I draw winners for a giveaway, their names will be posted here, along with a deadline for claiming their prizes.  Once that deadline passes, I’m terribly sorry, but the prizes are no longer available to be claimed.  I do not send out a reminder email.  I do not contact the winners directly.  I draw the names and post them on the blog, where they can be clearly seen.

You may think this is unfair.  I don’t.  I am giving things away, including my time, and I am asking that, if you have entered a giveaway through this blog, you check back after the stated cut-off to see whether your name has been chosen by the RNG.  I do not re-draw names when prizes go unclaimed.  They just don’t get sent out, and I find other channels via which to distribute them.

Please, please, please remember to check back after a giveaway.

The prize you save could be your own.

…an ARC of Tricks for Free!

Hello, and welcome once again to the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch, where we beat back the dark a little by spreading light around, mostly in the form of books I have decided to give away.  All thirteen days will have their own prizes and their own rules (mostly similar, sometimes identical, never optional).  Because I am a poor author, I cannot afford to pay international postage: if you are outside the United States, you must be able to pay postage if you win.  (If you are inside the United States and wish to volunteer to pay postage for an international winner, please say so when you leave your own entry.)

And now, let the games begin!  To enter…

1. Leave a comment on the root entry, on my WordPress site.  No comments on the Dreamwidth mirror will be acknowledged.

2. Identify whether you are domestic or international; if international, acknowledge willingness to pay postage.

3. Name your favorite member of the Price family.

Please do not leave non-entry comments on the post, as they confuse the random number generator that picks our winners.  The winner will be chosen on December 15th, and will have until 12pm PST on December 17th to claim their prize via my website contact form, lest it be lost forever to the mists of my storage room.

Game on!
