...I think of flying down into a sea of pins and feathers, and all other instruments of faith and sex and death in the body of a black-winged bird.

This is the shape of my 2014, with travel dates and everything. Beautiful travel dates. Hope to see you in the months to come! Things are changing and shifting quickly now, but I am keeping my wits about me, and soon we will have solid ground.

No fixed deadline/being written/unsold:

The Best Thing
"Unnatural Selections"
"White as a Raven's Wing"
"Turn the Year Around"
"Under the Sea of Stars"
"Decay"
"Fiber"
"Carry Me Home"
"Pixie Season"
"These Antique Fables"
"All the Pretty Little Horses"
Echo
Chaos Choreography
Chimera

Again, to clarify some recent confusion: some things, especially novel-length things, may appear more than once, on both the "publication date" and "being written" lists. This is because the "being written" list is an aggregate, which also includes "no fixed deadline" (IE, being written on spec or for the website) and "unsold" (IE, being written because I can). So new books will appear there for a long time before they vanish, since books take a long time to write, but may also have pub dates listed higher up.

Look at that list. It's so shiny!

I figure you're not planning this far ahead yet, but I figure it can't hurt to ask... any chance you might be going to Worldcon 2015 in Spokane? Since it's in my state, I'm damn well dragging my ass out there, and it'd be awesome to see you again. (If the answer is "I have no idea yet and I don't even want to think about that", I totally understand!)

Also, Disney Paris? I am totally jelly. I've been meaning to try to convince the partner-creature that we should save and plan a Disneyland trip (as anything else is probably far out of our price range), since I haven't been since I was 11... and and and Disney.

I have no idea yet and I don't even want to think about that! Sorry! (I am actually not a big fan of Worldcons. They're expensive and exhausting and freak me out. So I try to avoid planning for them until I absolutely have to.)

Disneyland is always good. Disney World is not that different in cost, except for the plane tickets, especially if you plan for one of their sales. If you think it's going to be another decade before you go back, I'd do an extra six months saving, and try for the big one.

Fair enough! Thank you for taking the time to answer. I've never been to a Worldcon before so it's going to be a new thing for me. (I'm so going to be loaded up on anxiety meds. Norwescon is the biggest con I've been to, so I'm expecting a fair bit of an "OMG PEOPLE" shock. As much as I'd love to, I doubt I'd ever go to San Diego ComiCon because I probably wouldn't even get through the door before perishing of sheer overload.)

Huh, I actually thought Disney World was more expensive. My girlfriend spent over a decade in Florida, however, and her evil ex is there still (he was a major jerk and made fun of her for wanting to go to Disney World and Universal Studios and stuff like that)... so, if we should go, I think it will be Disneyland, just to avoid the bad memories and things.

Since if we go it will likely be me + partner + girlfriend (possibly my other girlfriend and her family if they can save for it too... esp if they have their littles by that time... poly makes for biiiig family trips, lol). Plus I have friends in the LA area that I'd love to see again (... and perhaps drag along with me *whistles*).

That said, if it's something easy to explain (if this would be anything drawn out, please don't worry about it, I know your schedule and appreciate very much when you are able to answer comments :), I'd be interested in what you mean about sales? Is that for the park itself, or airline, or...?

WorldCon may be a bit bigger than Norwescon, but not all that much; typical attendance is 2,500-5,000. Plus, it'll be more spread out, so it may even feel smaller. Also, you'll have local friends there; knowing folks in advance always helps, as you can focus on finding/meeting them. If you scout out the terrain in advance, you can plan all the good places to meet up [especially for vittles].

Disney World is more likely to do "packages," where the resorts are heavily discounted, and if you tend to eat in the Parks, the meal plan can cut your per person dining costs by 20%.

*squeaks delightedly at 'IM' release date*

(You'd honestly think I'd have these drilled into my head, because I read this post every month, but stuff still sneaks up on me.)

You know what you need? You need a Designated FanGirl Post, so that when someone shows up to just gush in a ridiculous fashion about how amazing your books are and they just read their very first one and then stayed up until waaaay past bedtime starting the next one on their e-reader because ZOMG Aeslin Mice, you can direct us to that spot so we don't go all squishy in random spots on your LJ. :)

And now that I have thoroughly embarrassed myself... thank you. Your work is delightful and thank you for sharing it with us. Now I gotta go. I'm pretty sure my Nook just shouted, "Hail the Arboreal Priestess!"

Hi Seanan,

I'm a Minneapolis native who just learned about the 4th Street Fantasy con through this post, and it's a bit late to get tickets. Will you be doing a book-signing or any events that are open to the public while you're here?
