It's been a while since I provided more of the single best accessory any blog can have: pictures of the blogger's cats. I like my cats. I find them photogenic and adorable. (Most people feel this way about their cats, but mine are Siamese, which makes them double awesome.) All of which combines to mean that it's time, once again, for that best of exercises.

Time for cat pictures.

I have two cats at present. The dominant, younger, more demonically-possessed cat is Lilly, short for Lillian Kane Moscowitz Munster Cavanaugh Sawyer McGuire. Lilly is a purebred Siamese, and is coming rapidly up on her fourth birthday. Since Siamese often live into their twenties, I'm going to be stuck with this particular kitty for a long time to come.

Lilly spends a lot of her time apparently possessed by demonic forces and possibly compelled to do their unholy bidding. This is...pretty damn normal for the Siamese, actually. They're intelligent, vocal, incredibly irritating cats. They're also my favorite cats in the entire world.

There was an accident when Lilly was less than a week old which resulted in her losing her tail about two bones from the end. This has done absolutely nothing to negatively impact her life, but it makes her look a bit like a rabbit. This is her rabbit end.

There are times when Lilly actually looks elegant, refined, and entirely deserving of her Siamese heritage. These times never last more than a few minutes. Very few.

Having a Siamese is something like having a pre-verbal toddler without thumbs. Lilly often follows me around the house going 'Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom?' in cat, just because she wants my attention.

My bedroom window is the Siamese equivalent of cable television. Lilly sits there for hours watching the outside world. (Yes, that's Princess Sparkle on the windowsill.)

Behold! The glowing eyes of evil!

Lilly likes to sit on my desk chair and watch what I'm doing. This picture gives you an excellent view of my bed, complete with cobweb Halloween pillowcase. I am such a nerd sometimes.

"Who, me? I don't know anything about it."

And now, Nyssa, my speckled mudslide kitty, being aged and elegant on the couch. She likes things that don't require her to move much. This is because she's older than some nations.

Nyssa is remarkably good at looking remarkably dubious. It's a skill that's taken her years to develop. But now she's a master.

Once upon a time, this was a laptop case. Now it's a cat bed. As the cat in question still possesses all her teeth, it's best not to argue with her about exactly who owns her favorite sleeping spot.

And that's all for today.

CUTE kitties!

My cats like to sleep on my laptop case, too...only my laptop is still in it! I'm always finding little paw prints all over it.

They slept on the case back when it contained a laptop, but now I have an orange laptop case, and I like that much better.

Take three? But there are only two cats, and I think you want to keep them *g*. (I willingly accept responsibility for looking at pictures of other people's cats, and for being a cat-toy when in their presence, being unable to share my house with any feline persons. I'm not allergic, it's just that my lifestyle as a freelance programmer means that I'm away far too much of the time and it would be unfair on any dependant especially one without opposable thumbs...)

No, no, that makes absolute sense. I'm planning on two more, but alas, they aren't part of my life yet...

Lilly Moscowitz is a character in the Princess Diaries books, if I remember correctly.

Have a lovely day! :-)

Lily Cavanaugh Sawyer is the mother of the protagonist in Stephen King and Peter Straub's novel Talisman.

(Alex and I were trying to remember all of Lilly's last names over the weekend for some reason, and Cavanaugh Sawyer were the ones I forgot. *headsmack*)

Lily Moscowitz is Mia's best friend in Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries series; Lily Cavanaugh-Sawyer is Jack Sawyer's mother in The Talisman.

Funnily enough, my tailless kitty is about to turn four, too. Of course, he is the size of a small whale and about as Siamese as one.

Oh, Lilly is *huge*. Truly oversized in the world of not-bred-explicitly-to-star-in-mutant-cat-horror-movies sized cats.

Of course, I may only think this because Lilly almost outweighs both of my cats put together.

Lilly is a perfectly reasonable size for a Siamese kitty to be! Your cats are just miniature.

I'm sort of convinced that she might be a terrier in disguise -- her little stumpy tail is almost exactly the right length for dragging her backwards out of badger holes.

(I kid, I kid!)

He grew that way! He was five weeks old when I found him (in the snow, poor thing), and he had nothing, not even a nub of one. Gradually he grew a bobtail, which he wags like a dog.

Given his size, build, bobtail, and where he was found, we strongly question whether he has wildcat in him.

For safety's sake, we must keep Duke and Lilly at least a state away from one another at all times.

If not...well.... ALL BOW TO YOUR NEW TAILLESS GREY MASTERS!

Lilly does not look impressed in this (http://pics.livejournal.com/seanan_mcguire/pic/0001cqw1) one. Did she not approve of whatever you were doing? ;-)

when I'm aged, I want to be elegant like Nyssa. It won't happen, but I can dream...
