Dual ARC giveaway.
Aug. 5th, 2012 02:46 pmIn addition to the much-vaunted (and very pretty) Ashes of Honor ARCs, I currently have ARCs for two, yes two different Subterranean Press books. One, A Fantasy Medley 2, contains the first-ever Tybalt-centric novella, "Rat-Catcher," which explains how he first came to be a King of Cats, the origins of his name, and why, when pressed, he sometimes introduces himself to humans as "Rand Stratford." The other, When Will You Rise?, is a collection of two Mira Grant short pieces that have not previously been published in physical form. Both will be coming out this fall, as gorgeous, limited edition volumes.
Understandably, these are even more limited than normal ARCs. But they're worth the read (and the finished books...hoo, nelly). So what's a girl to do?
Give some stuff away, naturally. Specifically, one copy of each Subterranean Press ARC.
This particular giveaway is open to US residents or to non-US residents who feel like paying postage. I'm very sorry about the restriction, there, but I'm in the middle of convention season, and I don't have the spare dollars right now. To enter...
1. Comment with which book you'd like to win, and why.
2. Give your best plea to the Random Number Generator.
3. If you're a non-US resident, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.
I will use the RNG to choose three potential winners for each book, and then choose the plea I like best. Yes, that makes it a little arbitrary, but only a little. Winners will be selected on Wednesday, August 8th, at noon PST. The usual twenty-four hour window will then apply.
Game on!
ETA: Guys, don't tell me why you want to win/why you should win; tell the RNG why you, above all others, are the predestined owner of the book. I want you to bribe the random number generator like a corrupt politician. Have fun! Don't just tell me "because I want it." If you didn't, you wouldn't be here!

Date: 2012-08-05 10:02 pm (UTC)O Random Number Generator, hear my trenchant plea. Once I had a pen, a pen emblazoned with the words "Seanan McGuire" and "Rosemary and Rue," obtained from the first celebration (HAIL!) of the release of a Toby Daye tome. I treasured it, for not only did it write well, but it reminded me of my friend's success. One night, I nearly lost it, having left it in an Indian restaurant. So anguished was I! But I retrieved it, and all was well. Now, however, I have lost it again, never to be retrieved, as some hoodlum, some vandal, some hooligan violated the sanctity of my car and pilfered my backpack, pen in tow. O Random Number Generator, I leave it to you to determine whether some good luck should befall me to balance out this bad luck.
I offer you the numbers 3, 7, 25, 37, 42, 57, 69, 101, and 451 as a humble sacrifice. Feast upon them and their numerological, mythical, cinematic, and literary significance and understand that I truly deserve to be a winner, no longer a victim of chance but a victor!

Date: 2012-08-05 10:02 pm (UTC)UK resident, willing to pay full postage. (Would the value be listed as less than $20? So I know if I need to factor in the customs charges. Not important unless I can persuade the RNG that it loves me).

Date: 2012-08-05 10:10 pm (UTC)Random number chosen by my huskies (seriously!) is the fabulous number 50 because that is my age and 50 is Nifty. Yes it is. (and in rereading this comment, a very silly age indeed).
And we all live in the US.
Thank you, Sir RNG!

Date: 2012-08-05 10:14 pm (UTC)RNG, I deserve to win above all else, because once, with my BFF, I created a church called "Church of Numbers and the Never Ending Decimal," or "CoNNED" for short. And thus ... numbers.

Date: 2012-08-05 10:17 pm (UTC)However, in case that is unacceptable, I have flipped my own shiny silver random number generator and come up with When Will You Rise? as the book I should beg you for.
So be it.
I am, randomly, in the US.

Date: 2012-08-05 10:18 pm (UTC)I am a major Tybalt fan who has the misfortune of living in Wales (UK) and having student loans that need to be paid. I've loved the look of "Rat-catcher" from the first hints that I saw on Twitter and was disappointed to see that I couldn't really afford a copy of the book myself. But I know I could manage postage. So it would be awesome, RNG, if you could please, please just pick me for a copy of the Fantasy Medley.
Also, I never win anything, so this would be awesome!
(Barring that, if there's any way that the RNG could see clear to help me win EuroMillions, that would be awesome, too.)

Oh omniscient and omnipotent RNG, you know I've never been as emotionally invested in a book series as I am in the Newsflesh trilogy. I'm here to beg your favor in this, most fantastic of contests. I pray it's time for mt number to be up.

Date: 2012-08-05 10:29 pm (UTC)I did file a request last month with Fallcrumble Heavy Industries' chief of limited editions, you understand. I am authorized by forces you cannot comprehend*. It's the blasted retrocourier service giving me the runabout. I can only accept delivery between the hours of 13 and 29 on inverse weekdays, and that simply isn't my shift. The retrocourier, I understand. I just can't do anything about it because of the service agreement.
Do me a solid, RNC. I am a US resident, and I'm drowning in paperwork over here.
* None of us comprehend them. They drink with the spirits of Accuweather and The National Examiner.
