...or any of my books, really. I'm not picky.

This afternoon, at roughly 3:00PM PST, I'm going to be heading over to Borderlands Books in San Francisco, California to sign stock. Borderlands takes phone and internet orders. They also take requests for signatures and personalization.

If you want to get a copy of One Salt Sea, or any of my other books, you can contact Borderlands (instructions on their website) and place your order now. I'll sign whatever's waiting for me when I get to the store.

I love my local bookstore.

A note to help folks out: Biblio.com, who does their online catalog orders, doesn't appear to have it listed just yet. (Or at least, not listed as shipping from Borderlands.)

Probably the site just hasn't been updated yet this morning, so I would recommend just using the email link and emailing Borderlands directly. (That's what I'm about to do.)

Added note (to anyone reading this who wants to order from Borderlands): I got a pretty quick response to my email. :)

I wish there were more local bookstore events where I am. Sadly, since we're out on the Olympic Peninsula, the only Urban Fantasy signings... yeah. I tend to avoid.

In other sadness, my Prime-ordered copy of OSS got screwed up. Won't be getting it until Thursday. Amazon did credit the account though, so there's that... and now a desperate desire to avoid spoilers for 2 days.

Amazon.uk have managed to ship my copy today instead of next week as they originally quoted, so things are looking up on this side of the Pond.

That's really good to know, because I have your signature on my copies of Feed and Deadline, but as I can't afford to go to Chicon next year I didn't know how I was going to be able to get Blackout to match.

Yeah, they'll take requests for any of the authors who sign in-store, and they ship very reasonably. (Shipping to Australia will be spendy, but less so than plane tickets.)

This is mostly irrelevant, as I live in Texas these days. However....

Seanan? I've read "The Tolling of Pavlov's Bells". I don't think I *ever* want to go to a signing of yours. I'd be too afraid.

Heh, I would have come running out sooner but I didn't want to just blunder into your conversation.

The good and the bad

The good news - multiple copies of One Salt Sea acquired from the (apparently) closest brick & mortar store (along with a replacement copy of Late Exclipses, having given my copy to a friend a little while back).

The bad news - it was in trying to get these books that it really hit me hard regarding just how many brick & mortar bookstores have closed in the last few years. As long as there was one open pretty close to me I never really noticed how many of my "backup" book sources were no longer there. But when the closest one closed and I started going through "the next closest was just down here...." - well, it wasn't there any more, and neither was the next closest after that, and the one after that...

I'll check Mapquest and/or the Yellow Pages to see if there is a closer one some another direction - but I wound up at one that was about 13 miles away. There were 2 Bigchain bookstores within a-mile-and-a-half of my house just a year or so ago....

Anyway - Happy Bookday, and I hope you had fun at Borderlands.
