seanan_mcguire: (late eclipses)

People of Earth, consider this your final warning: The Traveling Circus and Snake-Handling Show will be descending on Borderlands Books tomorrow, from six to nine in the evening. There will be cupcakes from Cups and Cakes Bakery, including the famous (or infamous) Mad Tea Party cupcakes originally conceived for the Emilie Autumn concert. (Chai cake, ginger buttercream, and strawberry jam.) We will endeavor not to eat them all before you get there, but it's gonna be hard.

There will be no actual snakes.

This iteration of the Circus includes Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff, who have never joined us for this particular madness, and are going to go a long way toward rocking the proverbial house. We'll have a raffle, a Q&A period, book signings, and all the random cheering you can stomach. There may even be some random dancing. Do you hear me? RANDOM DANCING!!!!

Come help us celebrate the release of Late Eclipses, and my first appearance on the New York Times bestseller list. If you can't attend, remember that you can order signed and inscribed copies of any of my books from Borderlands, and they'll be happy to hook you up.

Hope to see you there!

Too far, too far, the walrus said, and cast a look askance (I Am The Walrus, as John Lennon wrote later). So I can not, will not, can not, will not, shall not join the dance.[1]

But y'all have fun anyway, y'hear?

[1] This is my brain. This is my brain on fatigue poisons, the effects of which I noticed a long time ago having a suspicious[2] resemblance to being drunk. What's so bad about being drunk? Ask a glass of water...

What's funny is that Jeff and Maya actually did a parody of "I Am the Walrus" at the event.

Hee!

(They were in one of my dreams last night, I don't think it was the dream which was actually about zombies, that was earlier. Then they -- Jeff and Maya, not the zombies -- morphed into Bill and Gretchen Roper, which is an interesting trick. I have interesting dreams sometimes...)

I have tried convincing a friend who only recently moved there to go, on the understanding it will be so awesome he will take my advice and actually read your books :p not sure if he will go though.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think so. He said the mission is too scary for him! Not spoken to him since so he might have changed his mind. He's a pale, ginger guy from Yorkshire who wears glasses, so if you spotted anyone matching that description, maybe. Obviously will have to bug him again in a few months, assuming you have a Deadline party.

There's going to be a Deadline party, but it will take place during the day, and thus hopefully be a little less scary.

I'm glad the snakes aren't coming. Such a celebration might be too much for their little snakey brains to handle! Especially the Random Dancing!!!

Have a great time!

No snakes?????

Well, I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway, given I'm on the other side of the country.

We're looking forward to it - we may even convince my brother and his girlfriend to turn up as well - they live a few blocks from Borderlands Books. We also have a gift for you that we hope you'll like.

We had a blast..took most of today to recover... totally worth it, even with the torrential downpour's attack on our books on the way to the car. All made it out readable, but many spent quality time by the fire drying out today.

Sometime last summer I randomly picked up Feed from Pegasus Books in Berkeley. I work a few blocks away as a bartender in the Shattuck Cinemas, and have become known as the Zombie bartender, due to my large zombie pinup tattoo and because I constantly rave about your book. I actually lent my copy to
A handsome customer one day after a brief conversation about the coming apocalypse. .... That customer is now my live in boyfriend Nathan. Lol, Best how we met story ever. ...

For my birthday he ordered the first three October Daye books for me and I love love love them. The day Late Eclipse came out he had it waiting for me when I got home from work. Yeah!!
Best boyfriend ever!

Here's where I need your help. I can't make it to the big party, but I'd love to replace our well worn copy of Feed with a brand new one especially for him, signed by you! I'll figure out how to get the copy purchased from borderlands.

I know your super busy and it's alot to ask, but, hey, I figured why not ask?

Cheers,

Natalina.

Hello! Depending on how busy The Author and Her Minions (tm) are, I'm willing to do some schlepping, though I won't be attending tomorrow's event. I live in Berkeley and often get to Borderlands. How soon do you need the new signed Feed?

I understand The Author is doing a signing at The Other Change of Hobbit a week from today (3/25 @ 7pm).

If you prefer Borderlands, The Author is scheduled to have a release party there for Deadline (6/11), so it might be worth waiting to get both signed at the same time.

Sorry for the ENORMOUS delay; I'm really behind here. :( You can always, always order my books from Borderlands, and they'll be shipped right to you, shiny and ready to be given as gifts. I'm in the store once a week or so, and they save things out for me to sign.

Missing a Borderlands party, received an email from the possible Seattle job that "the talents and experience you offer do not match our needs for this year," and then found out that there's a possible Bay Area opening for me to apply for. This economy has me whirling. Who knows where I'll end up! My Toby and I will be there, when the whirlwind stops (ok, slows...ok slows slightly), with 2 Toby books (and 3 anthologies and counting) to wear your little fingers out with signatures!

Those of you in "maybe I could make it, but it'd be a bitch" range...It's WORTH IT!

But would you bring a small person? That does reasonably well in crowds and noise? And by small, I mean under 2.

There will be music, and dancing... often children. On a good day, my neice would have loved it, when she was 2. On a bad day, I'd have skipped it. It's a bookstore, coffee shop, and a party all rolled into one. You know your small person best.

You've given me just the answer I need. We'll see whether we're having a good day or a bad day tonight. But I'd like to go and I actually think he'd enjoy the music and dancing once he got comfortable.

Thanks.

I've brought my daughter a few times. She's NOT good with crowds or noise, but she does ok. Sometimes we've taken a break to walk outside.

That was lovely. I'm so glad that we made the drive in. The bad weather worked in our favor since there were so few people on the roads. Hope you had a blast and were able to enjoy yourself long into the evening.
