People of the Internet, please, please, please, when you use my website contact form to get in touch with me, please include an address so I can respond to you? Sending me messages with blank "from" lines just means...

a) I can't answer, even if you ask direct questions, and
b) I get really frustrated, because I at least try to answer all my mail.

So please, please provide me with an email address so I can answer you. It makes things a lot more stressy when you don't.

Thanks.

Your webmaster most likely can set up the form to ask again if someone tries to submit it without an email address. It might be beneficial for your sanity.

*nods* My thoughts exactly. Except I would code it to refuse the entire thing. That's just me. I'm mean.

Because of code reasons.

that's really odd. i know your site isn't built with wordpress like mine but i have a contact plugin that lets me configure however i want it to - mostly to keep spammers from annoying the hell out of me. it can't be that hard to make a line with email as a required field. one of my friends handbuilt his contact page. i can find out what he did.

Mari, please don't take this the wrong way, but no, thank you. There are a great many factors involved in maintaining my website, which is constructed in CSS and has a hand-coded back end. It is not currently possible; when it is possible, my webmaster will handle it; I really don't want to go into detail on why I cannot make an on-the-fly code demand, and I don't want to confuse things with outside code.

Thank you for understanding.

I don't know! Did you thank me for the 50 Thoughts on Writing?

I did! And for being a role model for 3 year olds who want to have sparkles and reptiles.

I am a bad fan girl. Perhaps that is why I have a kitty scratch across the top of my foot. Kaylee wasn't be a pest, she was being bad internet karma. I'll have to apologize to her tonight.

Cats as instant karma! Awesome.

And it's okay, really; it's just frustrating, 'cause I want to be good and offer answers. Did you see the 50 Follow-Up Thoughts?

She was an extra pesky this morning, which is not so good for me. Not a morning person! How did I end up with not just the morning cat, but a morning hound too! At least the child, husband and other hound are also not morning people.

I don't think I saw the 50 Follow-Up Thoughs. Reading all the follow up comments now.

I need t memory that thread, so that if E does get grief for being an all-around-person, I can show her that other people say it's ok. Not just her family!

My private e-mail is the same is the lj one. hamletkitty at yahoo

That was me, late last night after/while teaching my English 101 class. I was on an endorphine high, so might not have filled the email addy thing out. :) Apologies! My email is mknopf@gmail.com .

I have the printout of your 50 thoughts sitting on my desk near one of my copies of Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style". I say this not to be a totally fan-boy (though I really really liked "Feed"), but because your thoughts are so helpful. In particular, I liked the essay about the distinction between being a writer and between being a novelist. (I am the former, wanting to be the latter.) I've written all my life and even made a living as a reporter, but have yet to complete a work of novel-length. Ambition is a good thing, though I'm a relative dilettante.

Did I say Feed was great? It's the newest, most refreshing thing I've read in a while. Okay, now I need to get back to the law work now...

You try to answer every email you receive?

It's probably fortunate that I'm far lazier than the wicked aspects of my imagination...
