The power of kittens compels you.

Buy Rosemary and Rue [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxies]. Because if you don't, you'll make the kitten cry. (Actually, you'll probably just make the kitten shed and play with feather toys. But that's beside the point.)

... I already pre-ordered my copies. XD

...well, then. THE POWER OF KITTENS DEFIES LINEAR TIME!!!! That's how awesome it is.

Still no love at Canadian booksellers. :( I need to go by the local all-SFF store and see if they can preorder it. (Business for local booksellers == victory.)

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely agreed. The ISBN-13 is 978-0756405717; that should work for a catalog look-up, if your local has access to the Penguin catalog.

I stopped in, and they already had copies on order, so one gets set aside from me. Yay!

Also, the woman who runs the shop read the description and said it 'sounded exactly like what she's been enjoying lately', so she'll be reading it, too.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-27 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Hooray!

[identity profile] valkyrwench.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
If I hadn't already pre-ordered my copy at the earliest possible instant it was available, this would make me want to order it :)

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
The power of kittens. I'm just saying.

[identity profile] valkyrwench.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
It's compelling.

[identity profile] genre-savvy.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
The kitten compels me. Must obey.

I have no credit cards of any kind, so I can't pre-order. Thus, I will be making an actual trip to an actual bookstore to pick up a copy. :-)

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I am sure this will appease the kitten.

[identity profile] kathleenfoucart.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
As a rule, I do as kittens tell me.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's just safer that way.

Does she already shed enough to knit a new one of her from?

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
No, but Lilly is trying industriously to shed a second Siamese to help her tag-team.

[identity profile] ladyamber.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Must... buy... Rosemary and Rue... o.o

Oh, exciting news! My husband and I have figured out that our new kitty is partially Siamese. She's got a similar head structure, though the constant talking is probably a better indicator of that.

...I now completely understand your love of the Siamese. Though the Maine Coon is adorably compelling. :3

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Squee!

Siamese cats are awesome. It's undeniably true.

Sierra kitty! (http://twitpic.com/3xk8o)

The place where her tail is bandaged in the pic is a fighting injury, that may result in a small bald spot once it's entirely healed. But there's a Sierra kitty!

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
ZOMG BEAUTIFUL TORTIE GIRL!!!!

I miss my torties. Every tortoiseshell I have ever lived with has been a just plain amazing cat.

[identity profile] ladyamber.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Sierra is amazing. She is adorable and loving and insanely curious about the piles of random stuff in the office. :3 The most amazing thing right now is that my allergies love her, too!

My resident tortie is bossy and inquisitive and started her tenure with me by stealing a fork full of food between my plate and my mouth and has escalated to simply trying to take the entire bowl away from me now.

She's a brat, my Izzy cat, and I wouldn't have her any other way.

[identity profile] ladyamber.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine likes to bat the d20 off the desk, then sit directly on my keyboard and demand pets, completely ignoring the distressed beeping sound the desktop makes when she does so. Also, she steals my milk.

But I love that darn cat.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Gooooooooooooood kitty.

I always do what the Kittens tell me ...

[identity profile] lluad.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
... so what's the most effective place and time to buy a copy, in terms of encouraging booksellers to order a stack of books from your publisher to display prominently?

Pre-order now or just before release or just after? Local independent, online store, brick and mortar chain?

Re: I always do what the Kittens tell me ...

[identity profile] catnip13.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
My local indie bookstore says that preorders placed more that 3 months pre-release get kicked out of the system, so I'm there June first. Of course, I also ordered a copy online, so I'm covered for the kitten-compulsion.

Re: I always do what the Kittens tell me ...

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, your individual order won't change the initial orders from B&N or Borders, both of which will have their order size determined by corporate (here's hoping it's awesome). [livejournal.com profile] catnip13 is right about waiting for June if not ordering through one of the links above; I'd recommend your local independent if you have one, because they always need the sales.

[identity profile] droewyn.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a fan of pre-ordering -- I'd rather have the funds come out of my checking account when I place the order instead of having to keep a little reminder notice in my ledger until the item actually ships, and then hope that I don't have any financial emergencies that week -- but Rosemary and Rue is on my list of books to buy as soon as they come out!

... has anyone told you that your kitten has Paws of Doom? Because she does.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
That makes sense!

Alice is a Maine Coon. Paws of Doom is actually in the breed standard.

[identity profile] dornbeast.livejournal.com 2009-05-11 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I knew there was a reason I don't want a ARC! I might make the kitten cry!

Please thank Alice for me. I like knowing why I decide these things.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I have thanked her. She has been fluffy.
