One little star, shining on through the night...

...do you shine on my someone? Are we sharing your light?

Things have shifted around a lot and that means it's time for a new inchworm girl post, lest I start to destabilize and lose track of what is where and when and how I got into this hand basket.

This is the current shape of my 2012/2013, with travel dates and everything. Beautiful travel dates. Hope to see you sometime in the months to come.

Velveteen vs. The Multi-verse, August 2013.
WHAT! Does this mean Volume 2 is a go?? *is ready to pre-order without having read the first volume*

[identity profile] shanejayell.livejournal.com 2012-12-13 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully with a mass market version of both to follow. :D

[identity profile] spectralbovine.livejournal.com 2012-12-13 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be nice! The hardcovers are pretty but pricey.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, not unless we're picked up by another publisher after the ISFIC contract runs out. They're a small house, and they don't do MMPB.

[identity profile] shanejayell.livejournal.com 2012-12-17 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we can hope. :D

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yup!

...but alas, there are no pre-orders yet.

[identity profile] spectralbovine.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
That's great news!

The first part, I mean. Did the book sell well? Or do they just like you?

[personal profile] billroper 2012-12-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. :)

The reason there are no pre-orders yet is that we don't have a final page count for the volume, so we can't set a final price yet.

Yay Follow That Bird!

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Word.

[identity profile] biguglymandoll.livejournal.com 2012-12-13 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
But looking at it makes *us* happy! Hey, could Velveteen ever be a graphic novel? Or is that already in the works and I haven't been paying attention? I may be an idiot here - but if not, that would rock!

[identity profile] bekitty.livejournal.com 2012-12-13 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
If a graphic novel of Vel ever happens, James Denton should be the one to illustrate it. I really like his style.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
No one has made an offer yet!

[identity profile] dragonsally.livejournal.com 2012-12-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep checking to see if an Australian date has materialized...dunno how you'd fit it in but I can dream.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Not in 2013, I'm afraid. :(
wednesday: (different)

[personal profile] wednesday 2012-12-14 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oliviaaaaaaaa.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Mrple?

[identity profile] yellowblackhaze.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of cool Velveteen in the future, always welcome.

sky begins to fill, darkness ends the day, someone who I love is far away...

I sang that song in a school Muppet/Sesame-themed production - in fact, I think it was my first-ever solo. And I've spent the last 25 years or so thinking I was the only person on this PLANET who remembered that song - clearly an incorrect assumption. :)

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I love a) the song, and b) the movie. It is a place I go for comfort.

[identity profile] thedragonweaver.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I am sad that Westercon does not appear to be on your schedule, but you need to have some non-convention time to write and all, so I will soldier on. ;)

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much, sadly. Sleep is vital to my not flipping out and killing everyone.

[identity profile] thedragonweaver.livejournal.com 2012-12-16 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
While I would love to see you at conventions, having you rested and happy is a much higher priority. Besides, you're crazy prolific and WE DON'T WANT THAT TO CHANGE. Particularly not because of stress.

[identity profile] sleightedge.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
My reaction to "Velveteen vs. the Epilogue":

At first: "Yay! I want to know what happens RIGHT NOW."

Followed immediately by: "But, then it might be... over" *sad, hunched shoulders*

Thank you for making 2013 look more and more interesting!

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That is, sadly, the last story of the current act.

[identity profile] sleightedge.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's what I thought. Still, coming from you it'll be the right ending, and that's all anybody can ask.

[identity profile] shanejayell.livejournal.com 2012-12-17 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
And 'Current act' implies there may be more acts to come. :D

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-17 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, maybe not. It depends on a lot of factors.

[identity profile] sfogarty.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
EEEEE! I live in San Antonio!
Ouch, $180.
This will require thought.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Is there a Buca de Beppo in the area?

[identity profile] sfogarty.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It does not seem so (an hour away in Austin is the closest). Maggianos seems to be the closest analogue, and it isn't a very good one.

On one hand, assuming I get a supporting membership in the Hugos again, it's only 120$ above that.

[identity profile] vincentursus.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
... lest I start to destabilize and lose track of what is where and when and how I got into this hand basket.

Modern hand baskets are like jet fighters. The computer navigation doesn't work if you don't keep tracking of the timing properly.

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Precisely.

[identity profile] silvormoon.livejournal.com 2012-12-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
This is largely irrelevant, but I want to tell you something cute that happened tonight. I was picking up holiday stuff, and stopped to grab a bite to eat on the way home. I usually have a book in my purse to read while I'm eating, and as I was reading, one of the waitresses stopped by my table and said, "Oooh! You're reading A Local Habitation! I love that book!" And we had a nice chat about how generally awesome your books are. I thought that was nice. :)

[identity profile] seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com 2012-12-17 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fantastic!
