Tiphaine is probably the most interesting female character in the series, IMO. Juniper is too ... muchish, ditto Signe. Astrid's crazy, but I like her. I feel like the author kind of dropped the ball with the animosity between Tiphaine and Astrid, but he's got one more book in the second trilogy to pick that thread back up.
