It's time for my exciting Book Four GIVEAPALOOZA!!!! (Cue iCarly excited crowd noises.) Because Late Eclipses drops in just eleven days, I want to get everybody excited through the most basic means available to me:

Giving things away.

Specifically, I am giving away six books: two copies each of Rosemary and Rue (book one, for beginners!), An Artificial Night (get caught up!), and Late Eclipses (because new releases are awesome!). This giveaway is open only to North American addresses, unless you indicate in your entry that you're willing to pay postage. I'm really sorry about that, I just can't afford to both give books away and ship them overseas.

So here's how this will work:

1. Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it on the entry, please, not in response to another comment (replies to comments cannot win).
2. Indicate which book you want.
3. Indicate why you want it. Be as factual or as ridiculous as you like. Is it your birthday? Do you plan to encase it in amber and throw it in the ocean? Are termites involved? Have a party!
4. If you are outside North America, and willing to pay postage, include this in your comment.

...and that's all. The winners will be selected by our old friend, Random Number Generator, on Tuesday, February 22nd.

Game on!

ETA: Guys, remember, An Artificial Night is book THREE. I sadly do not have any copies of book two in this giveaway, and if you try to read book three or four without reading books one and two, you're going to be really, really confused.

I want Rosemary and Rue! Because I loaned my copy to a friend who adores it and cannot bear to ask for it back, but also cannot bear to have an incomplete collection of anything.

ELEVEN DAYS! That is crazy.

I would like to win Late Eclipses.
My reason will need an ellipsis.
This book about Toby
Won't suck like a goby...
Guess what this word on my lips is.

I would like Late Eclipses because it is the one I don't have yet (though I still need to reed Artificial Night), my birthday was this past Sunday, and I still grin like an idiot when I point out that I used to game with someone publishing awesome books and being crowned Princess of Australia. ;)

I would like Rosemary and Rue because it's my roomie's birthday next Thursday and well, I want to get her addicted to another author. >;p

I would like Rosemary and Rue because the beginning seems like a good place to start.

I'd love Late Eclipses. I'm about to put up a new bookcase, and without LE, I won't be able to allocate shelf-space to the collected works of Seanan MccGuire (nee Mira Grant) accurately. (over a year and they're all still stacked up in random places, rather than grouped together and properly shelved).

Ok so it's not my birthday for another 7 months but I really want Rosemary and Rue. I just started going back to school recently (recession + lay offs - available jobs = good idea to get more education) and I could really use a good book to relax with at the end of the day.

Oooooo.... late Eclipses.

'Cause waiting is hard, so very, very hard.

It's all rainy here, and I have a tea pot, expensive tea waiting for something worth celebrating, and can make scones, but I lack a new Toby adventure. Only the random number generator can enable a decadent day of reading and tea!

I want An Artificial Night because, honestly I like winning things and If figure the second book won't be as popular a choice. I read it already but it was the ebook because I'm impatient, and this way I can actually lend it to friends! I'm from Maryland.

I would like Late Eclipses.

I have heard that it has special biological properties and would like to use it to protect me against the upcoming plague warfare.

I would also like to read it while riding on the back of a dinosaur. Just sayin'.

I would love a copy of Late Eclipses, I've been buying the series as it comes out and don't want to miss anything.

And if I have a copy then I can lend it to people and get them hooked on this amazing series.

Also I'm currently at library school and carrying it around in my bag means I can pull it out and go read this series. A fantastic new book will help me to not freak out about the fact that I may graduate late.

Hmmm...I've already pre-ordered my copy of Late Eclipses. If I won, I'd want "Rosemary and Rue," for the local library.

I want Late Eclipses, because Rosemary and Rue was one of the two new books that I got to read on my semester abroad in a country with severely limited Internet access, when I was homesick as hell and isolated and only brought three well-worn and beloved books to reread. So I'll always associate Toby Daye with comfort, escapism, and those twelve hours where I had to eat one-handed because I was too happy to be reading something new and awesome for the first time in three months to put it down.

Hi.

I want Late Eclipses. Because I love that title. It reminds me of that song, "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Which is a great song. Even if it really doesn't make much sense. But if you were to draw oblique inspiration from one Jim Steinman song title, this is the one you should choose.

(Also, it's new and I want to be the second on my block to read it. The first being Batya.)

I would like "Rosemary and Rue" because my birthday was on Monday and I hardly got anything and I'm feeling sorry for myself and also I would really like to get exposed to another awesome author properly! :D

I would LOVE a copy of Rosemary & Rue for 2 reasons. One, it really is my birthday on Thursday the 24th. Two, I've been meaning to pick up the first book for a while but every time I see it I'm broke so no book for me.

Happy release party

I'd love a copy of Late Eclipses. I'll be honest and state that I will completely buy one if I don't win one, but, hey, winning things is awesome. And if I do win one, I'll buy one and pass it on to someone else. I will always buy your books and sponsor your CD's, because you are my friend, because I'm a fan of your work, and because you gave me words when I had none.

I want Late Eclipses, because it is clearly the last step in your instructional series on how to to take over the world by being turned into a fish for over a decade, and I'm SO CLOSE!

Requisition Request: Late Eclipses.

Need: Required for Continuation of Scientific Experimentation/Testing

Reason: Excessive productivity of Author of Said Book (one Seanan McGuire, known alias: Mira Grant, hereafter "Author") indicates said Author is a space-time anomaly. Evidence: Author extremely productive with known roster of three series in production plus several in development, despite maintaining full time outside job, managing hundreds of comments and e-mails on web site, several known engaging hobbies (including dedicated My Little Pony collection: suspect Author is in process of modifying them to form army of tiny, cute equine robots). Author is therefore clearly somehow manipulating time-flow. Suspect "reverse minute skipping"* in which author can endlessly repeat individual minutes until sufficient level of productivity is reached.

Have reason to suspect Author has subconsciously embedded code that would allow replication of said phenomena in text of Toby Daye novels. Require most recent addition in order to complete next series of tests on said theory. So far: have ruled out each letter corresponding with its number and each letter corresponding to a color which corresponds to a number.**

Currently suspect some sort of complicated Kabbalistic algorithm.

*Full time-continua manipulation unlikely, as Author has not suddenly become wealthy by betting on sporting events and/or manipulation of stock market.

**Must determine if Author is a synesthete for further investigation on this topic.

I would love "Rosemary and Rue" because I happened to mention on my own LJ that I'm needing a great escape (my life having been rather complicated by an unexpected and hopefully benign tumor deciding it just HAD to take up residence in my neck) and that I love urban fantasy and ten people rushed forward to tell me how I had to start reading your books...like YESTERDAY. Two even emailed me privately to make sure I hadn't missed the "OMG, great!" memo. ;) Now to me, there's no recommendation quite like the enthusiastic - nay even breathless - recommendations of one's fellow readers so I am all about getting my hands on your work now. Getting a free starter would be lovely and a nice turn of events, but either way...oh yes, "Rosemary and Rue" you will be mine soon. *grin*

Late Eclipses, because I have issues with literary addiction.
And my week has utterly sucked at work. Reading it will be more healthy for me than, say, eating a box of cookies from our local French bakery, and it will keep my hands distracted from sending out snarky emails re: my job, thus keeping me employed--to buy more books.

See a trend here? :)

Love to you!
